Demolition and renovation of a detention facility in Henrico, Virginia. Completed plans call for the renovation of a detention facility; and for the demolition of a detention facility.
The Work is generally described as the interior renovations of the kitchen, secure lobby, detention shower room and booking area. The renovated areas in this project will be renovated in accordance with the 2018 Virginia Existing Building Code. The building is a mixed-use and the primary use group is Institution Retrained with accessory group Business (B). The construction type is IB, non-combustible construction. The building is and will be sprinklered with an NFPA-13 sprinkler system. Demolition of existing construction will consist of the removal of the existing kitchen equipment, kitchen flooring, kitchen ceiling, and four detention sliding doors, and part of the ceiling in the lobby area. Existing loose furniture will be removed by the owner prior to the beginning of construction. New interior partitions will primarily consist of CMU extending to deck and wire mesh partitions.
