Renovation of an educational facility in Urbana, Illinois. Completed plans call for the renovation of a educational facility.
As of September 10, 2024, the project is on hold. No definite date for the rebid. The University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign Undergraduate Library is being transformed into the Archives and Special Collections Building as part of a redevelopment project. The building will be dedicated to preserving rare books, manuscripts, archival collections, and University historic records in a secure and climate-controlled environment. The building's exterior will feature a glass curtainwall with varying levels of insulated glazing panels and its interior will include instructional spaces, event spaces, a reading room, exhibit gallery, recording studio, staff work space, and public restrooms and lactation facilities. The project also includes the modernization of the buildings mechanical systems and infrastructure, including the addition of elevators and a loading dock for better accessibility. Refer to Division 01 of the technical specifications for a complete, detailed breakdown of the base bids and alternates for this project. This project includes a Project Labor Agreement that will be executed between the lowest responsible/responsive bidder and the East Central Illinois Building and Construction Trades Council. A copy of the Project Labor Agreement is included at the end of Section 00 90 00.
