The Project Cruise Terminal 16 is located at 1601 Wharf Rd., Galveston, TX 77550 the mid-point of the port just off of Harborside Drive and 16th street. The Warehouse building is primarily a Cast in place and precast concrete structure built in 1959 – 1961 and currently serves as a Warehouse for Del Monte corporation and the other part of the Warehouse Building provides an enclosed area for cruise terminal cover parking garage for the Port of Galveston. As the cruise industry has continually grown, so have the vessel capacities and number of vessels in operation. At this time there is a need for a fourth cruise terminal in the Port of Galveston. The Requirements of the terminal would be to accommodate an additional 5,500 passenger cruise vessel. The Port Currently has a MOU with MSC Cruise Lines to develop an Operating Agreement with MSC for this Cruise Terminal. Currently the 25.51 Acre site contains Warehouse Building/facilities approximately 217,612 square feet in size. The Project will renovate/demolish parts of the existing warehouses to develop an approximately 160,000 sq ft Cruise Terminal and develop the remaining portion of the 25.51 Acres into Ground Transportation areas and surface parking lots containing approximately 600 parking spaces. Within the Ground Transporation Area, a parking garage containing 1,500 spaces will be constructed. Depending on the funding for the garage, the construction may be included as a separate phase of construction or may be constructed through a separate construction contract.
