Remodeling of a library in Lincolnshire, Illinois. Design plans call for the remodel of a library.

As of August 29, 2024, per owner, they will be starting the schematic design phase in October with the intent of completing that work within six months or so. While that work is going on, they will most likely be posting an RFQ for an owner's representative. A design team has been identified. The Vernon Area Public Library District is soliciting Statements of Qualifications from qualified and interested architectural firms for the redesign, remodeling, and possible addition to the existing Vernon Area Public Library, 300 Half Day Rd., Lincolnshire, IL. Project background: The current Library consists of a five-acre campus with two separate buildings. The Main Building is 55,580 sq. ft. and was built in 1993. It was renovated in 2013 and had a small addition with a drive-up window added in 2021. The Annex is a 10,000 sq. ft. building which is located 300 ft. away from the Main Building. It was built in 1974 and renovated in 2007. The Board is hereby soliciting Statements of Qualifications from interested architectural firms to help meet that challenge. The selected architect would: a) Perform a facility space audit and space needs analysis considering current design and functions, existing conditions, staff needs, environmental sustainability standards, and Standards for Illinois Public Libraries. b) Evaluate specific options with respect to the Annex, including cost estimates for demolition and repurposing the building site. c) Develop plans for remodeling the Main Building's space including possible expansion with a focus on environmental sustainability, standards and features, and consistency with standards for Illinois Public Libraries, and provide general estimates of costs. d) Ultimately prepare plans and specifications for the project, publish the bid notice, work with the Board in selecting the lowest qualified bid, and performing architectural services and oversight during construction. The Statement of Qualifications shall include: 1) Letter of Introduction and Project Understanding: Indicate interest in this project and working for the Library, and any other information that would assist the Library in making its selection, including why your firm is the best qualified to meet the needs of the Library District and this project. Include information on your firm's approach and capacity to work on an accelerated project timeline. A principal or officer of the firm authorized to execute contracts or other similar documents on the firm's behalf must sign the letter. 2) Company Profile and Experience: Provide a brief history of the firm, including the firm size, areas of expertise, and any other pertinent information applicable to this project. Provide evidence of relevant experience in development and implementation of space planning and architectural design. Provide a list (three to five) of similar projects completed by the firm or team within the last five (5) years, with brief descriptions that demonstrate the firm's/team's ability to complete projects of this type. For each similar project, confirm the amount of the firm's compensation for each phase of the project (concept and design; plans and specifications; bidding; and construction). 3) Project team and Key Personnel: Identify key staff (including sub-consultants as appropriate) who will be involved in the project, including their assigned roles, a brief description of their background and relevant experience. Please confirm that assigned staff have capacity to work on an accelerated project schedule. Provide hourly rates for principals, associate professionals, paraprofessionals, and administrative staff. 4) References: Provide three references for whom your firm has performed similar work within the last five years. Include contact name, current telephone number, and current email for all references. Statements of Qualifications shall be submitted electronically to the director@vapld.info by noon on August 4, 2023. No paper submissions will be accepted. Prior to submittal, on August 4, 2023 at 10:00 a.m. sharp up to two representatives of any interested firm are invited to meet with Library Director Anne Rasmussen and staff member Stephen Territo to tour the facility and obtain additional information regarding existing facilities and on-site concerns. The Board may arrange in person meetings with qualified firms and intends to make a final selection at its regular meeting on September 18, 2023 or October 16, 2023.
