CR Number: 2099590 The Power Plant Building houses SUNY Albany s Uptown central chiller and boiler plants. The Power Plant Building, constructed in 1966, is a 40,600 GSF, single story building. The two existing absorption chillers are nearing the end of their useful lives, and the campus is running out of excess chiller capacity due to increased loads. The Project will modernize the facility, provide additional chiller capacity and eliminate the use of the campus High Temperature Hot Water (HTHW) system during the summer month, thereby reducing fossil fuel-based energy consumption. The Project will replace the two existing absorption chillers in the Power Plant with (1) centrifugal chiller and (1) heat pump chiller. The Project will also include the construction of a geothermal well field to support the heat pump chiller, all associated utility infrastructure connecting the geothermal well system to the Power Plant, and other minor plant modifications.
