West Valley City has approximately 4100 street marker signs and 275 signs on traffic signal mast arms, and is seeking proposals from contractors to replace all street name signs throughout the City. The City has used different street name sign standards over time. Since 2009, the City standard for street marker signs has been white letters on a black background, with a colored city logo. The logos have not performed well and have faded or burned out in the sun. The City has changed the standard for street marker signs on public roads to black letters on a white reflective sheeting background, with a black city logo. Street marker signs for private roads will be a blue background with white letters and a white city logo. Most of the City's street marker signs are mounted on Telespar sign posts, and in most of these cases new signs will be mounted on existing posts, however there are several round posts that will need to be removed and replaced with Telespar posts. The contractor must install new signs before or concurrently with the sign removal. The contractor retains salvage rights for the old signs and posts. Existing signs in excellent condition may be re-sheeted at the contractor's discretion. West Valley City is seeking proposals from qualified companies interested in providing street marker sign fabrication and installation services. The selected contractor shall maintain Commercial General Liability insurance with per occurrence limits of at least $3,000,000 and general aggregate limits of at least $4,000,000. The contractor must also carry Professional Liability / Errors & Omissions Liability insurance with coverage of $2,000,000 per claim. If the coverage described above is not in place at the time a proposal is submitted, the proposer should describe in detail what types and levels of coverage are in place currently, and clearly indicate the proposer's ability and willingness to obtain the above-listed coverage required by the City. The City reserves the right to require additional coverage from that presented, at the proposer's expense for the additional coverage. The proposer shall maintain all employee-related insurance, in the statutory amounts, such as unemployment compensation, worker's compensation, and employer's liability, for its employees or volunteers involved in performing services pursuant to this contract. Proposer shall also maintain "all risk" property insurance at replacement cost applicable to proposer's property or its equipment.
