Replace the downtown speaker system with all new components including wireless microphones, omni directional antennas, speakers, amplifiers, control panel, primary amp rack in the Tulip Toren basement (to be housed in a climate controlled unit) and input/control rack in the Information Windmill. New system will have seven distinct zones that can easily be controlled from the Information Windmill. Zones are set up to match the Tulip Time parade route. (Three additional zones will be managed with portable systems and will not connect into the main Tulip Toren system). Main system, equipment, support and shipping fees was quoted for $229,305.68. An additional $40,000 is needed to supply the labor for pulling all new cable through existing conduit. The city would need to contract this portion of work separately using a contractor that is familiar with our systems. This project is included in the city’s FY 2024-2028 Capital Improvement Program. As of November 15, 2023, A firm professional design solicitation timeline has not been determined.
