As of August 6, 2024, an engineer has been selected and this project is in the final planning phase. It is anticipated bidding will commence in fall 2024, with construction following in 2024 or spring 2025. *The closed solicitation has been included below for reference: Preservation Projects o The preservation treatment project needs to evaluate existing road conditions, recommend suitable preservation treatments, and oversee the design, and construction. Their tasks include conducting assessments, selecting appropriate treatments, creating final project plans, providing construction oversight (if needed), and preparing comprehensive reports. The consultant will collaborate closely with the client, stakeholders, and contractors to ensure the successful implementation of preservation treatments while meeting project objectives and quality standards. Effective communication and adherence to project timelines and milestones are essential throughout the project. Rehabilitation Projects o For rehabilitation road projects, the selected consultant will need to assess the condition of the road, recommend appropriate rehabilitation techniques, coordinate with survey teams to gather necessary data, and conduct geotechnical analysis to understand soil conditions and stability, if applicable. The consultant will oversee the design and planning phase, supervise construction activities, and maintain comprehensive project documentation. Collaboration with the client and stakeholders, effective communication, and adherence to project timelines are crucial to successfully accomplish the rehabilitation road project. Schedule o The design of this project will need to be completed by September 2024. FINAL SELECTION will be made by the Regional Transportation Commission (RTC) and is tentatively scheduled for September 13, 2023. Should it become necessary to reschedule the date set for award, notice will be provided to those finalists selected. In all instances, a decision rendered by RTC shall be deemed final.
