Site work for a water / sewer project in Somersworth, New Hampshire. Completed plans call for site work for a water / sewer project.

As of Aug 24, 2023 the project was awarded to Hydro Utilities, for $75 per meter install and $45 per water service inspection . The City of Somersworth, New Hampshire is seeking proposals from qualified contractors for the installation of water meters and associated water meter reading equipment. The City of Somersworth is seeking a contractor to install approximately 2,900 water meters, predominately residential meters and radio transmitters throughout the City. The City will be purchasing Neptune T-10 water meters and radio transmitters and have them available in inventory for the selected contractor. The scope of work is as follows: 1. The contractor shall schedule the install of all water meters and radio transmitters and make arrangements with property owners to access properties for the purpose of the installation. The contractor will work with City Staff to create a listing of properties, by location, for scheduling purposes. In any instance where the contractor is denied access to a property, they may turn it over to the City and the City will make arrangements for access to the property. 2. The contractor will be responsible to shut off the water with-in the property, or shut it off in the street if necessary. City Staff will be available to locate curb stops when/if necessary. The contractor will be responsible to restore water flow after the water meter is installed. 3. The contractor will be responsible for draining and refilling any residential system such as heating systems or water heaters if necessary. 4. The contractor will be responsible for collecting and returning all old meters and radio transmitters removed to the City at a location determined by the City before the start of the project. 5. The contractor will be responsible for providing all materials incidental to the professional installation of meters. All materials provided by the contractor shall be of industrial quality and suitable for the purposes intended. 6. The contractor will work with staff to develop a form or work order to be filled out at each location to provide the City with the correct information to update the City's utility billing system. 7. The City is required to implement EPA's new Lead and Copper Rule.. The City is requesting contractors to provide a separate cost to inspect each water service. Contractors will be required to inspect for and document the presence of lead water service components during the meter replacement process. City staff will work with the contractor to develop an inspection form and methods to record and document any findings while in the property doing meter replacement work. 8. The contractor shall be responsible for any damages incurred to water system parts while in the process of a water meter installation. 9. The City will have a Staff member inspecting the work of the contractor, and at times will be present and observe the contractor during a meter install. The contractor shall supply the City a list of completed locations for the City to inspect the work. Any deficiencies found by the City will be corrected by the contractor at no additional cost to the City. Any questions must be submitted in writing to Scott A. The City will not accept any questions after close of business on Thursday, July 20, 2023. After the bids are opened and read, the bid results will be available for the public. Bidders that desire a comprehensive list of the bid results may do so by attending the bid opening, or requesting such, in writing, to the Director of Finance and Administration. The award of a bid shall not be considered official until such time that a Purchase Order, fully executed contract, or an award letter has been issued by the City of Somersworth. No presumption of award shall be made by any bidder until such documents have been executed and are in hand. Verbal notification of award is not considered official. Any action by the bidder to assume otherwise is done so at their own risk and the City will not be held liable for any expense incurred by a bidder that has not received an official award.
