Swansea Free Public Library - renovation and expansion of the existing library totaling approximately 21,725 square feet. Swansea Free Public Library Renovation Expansion. The Swansea Free Public Library, in Swansea, MA (the project) consists of the partial demolition, and construction of a new one- and two-story, steel framed addition to the existing historic Library, minor restoration, and renovations to existing historic Library. The new addition will have concrete foundations, concrete slab-on-grade first floor, and an elevated slab at the second floor, and connections to utilities in the street, new paved parking lot, and associated sitework. The addition will be clad with brick and cast stone, with cementitious siding at certain gables, and include aluminum clad wood windows, and asphalt shingle roofing. Sitework includes but is not necessarily limited to; hazardous materials abatement from, and demolition of an existing 1-story wood and masonry framed addition, with concrete foundations and a crawl space, tree and brush clearing, (limited) work on abutting properties, excavation, grading, drainage, sub-surface storm water infiltration system, and underground utility systems, demolition of the parking lots and paving, new bituminous concrete roadways and parking areas, granite curbing, landscaping and site improvements, and work throughout the site. The building includes but is not necessarily limited to; new wood and hollow metal doors, metal stud gypsum drywall partitions, carpet and vinyl composition tile floors, various millwork, cabinetry and trim, new mechanical, plumbing, fire protection, electrical and lighting systems, data and communications wiring systems throughout. Hazardous Materials abatement, partial demolition of the existing building, consisting mainly of a 1964 era addition, and associated crawl space is required. Cutting and patching within the remaining portion of the building, and new and restored finishes. Systems include: VRF mechanical system, electrical, plumbing, technology, and fire protection. The Project includes everything within the boundaries of the contract limit line (as shown on the Drawings). The Project also contains connections of utilities to existing utility systems and work within existing public ways which may lie outside the boundaries of the contract limit line. The Owner will vacate the building during the Work and the Contractor will have access to the entire site. Contractor Qualification : DCAMM Certificate Estimated Cost : $14,200,000 Required for DCAMM contracts over $150,000, Highway Division contracts over $50,000.
