The University of Nevada, Reno (UNR) is soliciting qualifications from Architectural firms to provide design services for the renovation of the existing Nevada State Health Laboratory Building. This effort is identified as project number 23RNV02647. The intent of this project is to renovate the existing Nevada State Health Laboratory Building in support of The School of Public Health. The facility will provide an environment that elevates the student, faculty and staff resources and establish a core operating infrastructure. The existing space is a 18,683 square foot single-story building. The program spaces focus on public health research and research support facilities to include open laboratory spaces, large and small conference rooms, computer lab, open study and lounge space, PHD and graduate research spaces, staff offices and associated support areas to accommodate the current staff of about 30 personnel and 20 students and plan for additional growth. The total project cost is $3M with total construction cost estimated to be in the $2.3M to $2.5M range. The design is intended to identify the scope of work, cost estimate and schedule and provide drawings and specifications for construction. The anticipated services may include, but are not necessarily limited to: o Conducting numerous meetings with various stakeholders o Programing and space needs assignments and documentation o Developing overall space use plans and floor layouts o Developing creative solutions for re-use of existing equipment o Provide existing analysis on building utility systems: Including, laboratory specific HVAC, electrical and other utility needs. o Provide site evaluation. o Determining construction scheduling options o Compiling budget estimates o Providing renderings The University anticipates the cost of design and construction administrative services to be in the $200,000 to $230,000 range. Project construction start dates are dependent on the relocation of the existing Nevada State Health Laboratory personnel and operations to the new facility. Construction must be completed by December 31, 2026 with an anticipated duration of 4 months.
