Demolition, site work and new construction of a road / highway in Charlotte, North Carolina. Completed plans call for the demolition of a road / highway; for site work for a road / highway; and for the construction of a road / highway.
As of November 9, 2023, a general contractor has awarded and construction has begun. It is anticipated completion in 18-24 months. As of November 9, 2023, this project is in the conceptual phase. An architect has not been selected. Although a firm timeline for construction has not been determined, construction is not expected to start prior to July 2024. *The closed solicitation has been included below for reference: The scope of this project includes, but is not limited to, the following: demolition, site work and new construction of 18,853 LF (3.60 miles) of new greenway construction. The proposed primary greenway is a 10-foot wide greenway starting near the existing Reedy Creek Park entrance then heading south towards the existing nature center. The greenway then heads west through the existing woods towards CPCC Northeast Campus. After approximately 2,000 feet the trail turn south towards Plaza Road Extension and starts following the road until the trail end near Vermillion Drive. The work also includes several secondary spur trails that connect to various destinations within and around the park.
