Renovation of an educational facility in Essex Jct, Vermont. Completed plans call for the renovation of a educational facility.
Essex Westford School District is seeking bids for boiler upgrades at Essex High School. If there are questions about the process, please contact Neil McIntosh by email at nmcintosh@ewsd.org. 1. Burner/fireside work: A. Furnish and install new Cleaver Brooks High turndown burner assembly. B. repair/replace Throat and furnace liner tile with necessary gaskets, refractory cement, and castable. 2. Fuel control system work: oil A. Furnish and install all new #2 fuel oil specific oil components. B. Provide new fuel oil train and related components to replace existion on each boiler C. Front head air and oil piping kit - including air manifold block, dual motorized oil valves with POC, low and high oil pressure switches, orifice block with nozzle and strainer, flex hoses, and atomizing air pressure switch. D. #2 oil burner oil supply and return piping- including relief valve, oil terminal block, pressure gauge, strainer, and supply/return tubing to fuel oil controller. E. Provide new fusomatic valves at each burner. F. Add/replace back pressure regulator at fuel oil pump set which supplies oil to the boilers to ensure a constant system supply pressure. G. Boiler fireside must be cleaned prior to installation of new burner components and tile. This work will need to be performed by the selected vendor. H. Install new Cleaver Brooks Air Compressor on both boilers I. Removal of existing #4 heavy oil components and piping that is no longer used (heater, contactor, strainer, piping) 3. Fuel control system work: Gas A. Pilot gas supply piping shall be revised so that only supply for pilot gas train shall come from upstream of the main regulator. B. A complete new factory pre piped gas train shall be provided to replace the existing on each boiler. Gas train to meet applicable code requirements including ANSI ASME CSD-1 and UL and shall include but not be limited to main gas valves, normally open vent valves, and low & high pressure switches. 4. Parallel Positioning and Flame Safeguard Control work: A. Install non-proprietary parallel positioning/linkage less fuel-air ratio control for further reduction in energy usage B. Fuel control systems for both natural gas and oil shall be completely replaced with new components. C. Electrical kit with new diagram- including fuel selector switch and relay, gas ignition transformer with cable. D. A touch screen shall be provided for set up, commissioning, and monitoring. Touch screen shall be mounted to the front of the control panel for ease of viewing. E. Provide/install Variable Frequency Drive (VFD) for the blower motor F. O2 trim: Install sensor/transmitter to continuously sense o2 content and provide a signal to the controller that trims the air damper and/or fuel valve, maintaining a constant O2 concentration. G. All controls wiring from burner panel to water level and temperature controls to be replaced with new. Main 208/3/60 power to each boiler shall remain. H. Install new operating control, High limit control, and pressure sensor to interface with new parallel positioning fuel/air ratio control. I. Remove all boiler/burner control devices containing mercury. J. Replace existing combustion motors with high efficiency inverter-duty motors. K. Full combustion testing on both fuels shall be performed and a written report of test results shall be furnished to the owner.
