The purpose of the Request for Proposal (RFP) is to solicit sealed proposals to establish a contract through competitive negotiations for the procurement of Geotechnical Services -On Call. Albuquerque Public Schools (APS) is requesting proposals for material and geotechnical testing services on an as needed basis. Geotechnical engineers and engineering geologists perform geotechnical investigations to obtain information on the physical properties of soil and rock underlying (and sometimes adjacent to) a site to design earthworks and foundations for proposed structures, and for the repair of distress to earthworks and structures caused by subsurface conditions. A geotechnical investigation will include surface exploration and subsurface exploration of a site. During the term of the contract, various projects will be identified and each individual project requiring the assistance of the contract engineer shall have a scope of work provided by APS. The contracted firm shall provide a written estimate of the total hours required for the individual project. This shall be submitted to the requesting department and the APS Procurement Department shall issue a Purchase Order prior to beginning any work. All available drawings, specifications, reports, and any other specialized engineering or design data held by APS may be made accessible as necessary. APS will also give prompt notice of any defects in a project it may become aware of and will advise the contracted firm of any change in the scope or quality of the project in a timely manner.
