Site work and outdoor lighting for a civil project in Austin, Texas. Completed plans call for site work for a road / highway; and for outdoor lighting for a road / highway.

As of 10/12/2023, this project has not yet been awarded. It is anticipated to be awarded on 11/9/2023. The Work consists of roadway lighting installation including installing new wooden and steel utility poles with mast arm lighting, installing new lighting on existing utility poles, and installing new LED luminaires to replace existing high pressure sodium lights. This contract includes work on two (2) road corridors: Slaughter Lane from Riddle Road to Brandt Road, approximate project length is 3.56 miles; Howard Lane from Scofield Ridge Parkway to Dessau Road, approximate project length is 3.11 miles. Some work will occur inside electrical high-voltage zone, which is defined as within five (5) feet of the primary electric distribution lines. All work occurring within the high-voltage zone must be performed by an Austin Energy (AE) Qualified Electrical Contractor (QEC), irrespective of whether they are a prime or subcontractor. Vegetation Management may be an applicable scope of work including related line clearing needed near high-voltage zone. Section 00400 contains information about becoming an AE QEC and specific requirements for vegetation management. This is a public safety roadway lighting project of the City of Austin Transportation and Public Works (TPW) Department. These public safety roadway lighting projects are being implemented by the TPW Department in service to its Vision Zero program which strives to end traffic related fatalities and serious injuries on city roadways. The street lighting infrastructure will be owned and maintained by the City of Austin and its wholly owned Austin Energy Department. All Bids shall be accompanied by an acceptable Bid guaranty in an amount of not less than five percent (5%) of the total Bid, as specified in Section 00100, Instructions to Bidders. Performance and payment bonds when required shall be executed on forms furnished by OWNER. Each bond shall be issued in an amount of one hundred percent (100%) of the Contract Amount by a solvent corporate surety company authorized to do business in the State of Texas, and shall meet any other requirements established by law or by OWNER pursuant to applicable law. The DBE participation goal that applies to this solicitation is as follows: 0.00 % Minimum wage rates have been established and are specified in Section 00830, Wage Rates and Payroll Reporting. Contract Time is of the essence and all Work shall be substantially completed within Three Hundred and Sixty (360) Calendar Days after date specified in the Notice to Proceed, in accordance with the Bid Form, Section 00300. Final completion shall be achieved within Forty (40) Calendar Days after substantial completion. Liquidated damages are One Thousand Five Hundred and Fifty Dollars ($1,550) per Calendar Day for failure to substantially complete the work and Eight Hundred and Forty Dollars ($840) per Calendar Day for failure to achieve final completion within Forty (40) Calendar Days after substantial completion, in accordance with the Bid Form, Section 00300. OWNER reserves the right to reject any or all Bids and to waive any minor informality in any Bid or solicitation procedure (a minor informality is one that does not affect the competitiveness of the Bid).
