1. PURPOSE . The City of Miami Beach is seeking applications from contractors who wish to participate in a prequalification pool that will be used for Group A: Bulk Purchase and Delivery of Cement Concrete Mix and Group B: Bulk Purchase and Delivery of Asphalt Concrete on an "as needed" basis as specified herein. Interested contractors may submit an application indicating their intent to become prequalified. All contractors which meet or exceed the criteria established in this solicitation shall be placed on a prequalification list that may be accessed by various City departments to obtain price quotations for asphalt concrete. 2. BACKGROUND AND SCOPE The City of Miami Beach Public Works Department uses various forms of concrete and asphalt (as specified herein), to maintain the public right-of-way and other areas throughout the City. The City has previously awarded fixed-price contracts for concrete and asphalt. However, due to wide market fluctuations in pricing over the last several years, long-term fixed-price contracts are not viable. As such, the City is issuing this ITB to establish a prequalified pool of available suppliers for concrete and asphalt from whom spot market pricing can be obtained at the time of need. The estimated budget for these services is $65,000 annually. The purpose of this ITB is to establish a pool of prequalified suppliers for Group A: Bulk Purchase and Delivery of Cement Concrete Mix and a pool of prequalified suppliers for Group B: Bulk Purchase and Delivery of Asphalt.
