Remodeling of a fire / police facility in Lees Summit, Missouri. Conceptual plans call for the remodel of a 3,750-square-foot fire / police facility.
The submittals must be standard letter-size pages (8.5" x 11") having a minimum font size of eleven (11) points and no more than six (6) pages in length. Up to four (4) additional pages may be submitted as an appendix and may be up to 11" x 17" in size. In addition, a single page cover letter should be submitted, which includes the name, title, email address and phone number of the point of contact person for the consultant team. A selection committee will evaluate the submittals based on the above criteria and notify selected firms for oral interviews (if necessary). The purpose of this project is to repurpose an existing fire station into a police substation. The selected firm will provide a space needs analysis and assist the City in determining how the space can best suit the needs of the police department. The project site is located at 3650 SW Windemere Dr, Lee's Summit, MO 64082. The existing Fire Station #5 was completed in 1980 and the building has approximately 3,750 sq. ft. The building is currently occupied by Fire Department personnel, expected to relocate into a new facility in early 2024. In April 2023, the City of Lee's Summit was successful in obtaining approval from the voters to issue obligation bonds to design and complete this project. The police substation design must accommodate at least the following key items: o A secure front desk area for public contact (filing and obtaining reports, for example); o Flexible office space for police personnel; o A community accessible meeting room; o A secure property and evidence area; o New HVAC system; o Design and selection of materials for all new office space, and removal and replacement of interior finishes; o Security/access control and video systems compatible with existing facilities. o Fitness area o Secured employee parking and public parking spaces This Request for Qualifications (RFQ) is an invitation by the City for interested Professional Architects and Engineers to submit qualifications, which may be subject to subsequent discussions and negotiations. It is not a request for a competitive bid. Submittal of qualifications does not create any right in or expectation to a contract with the City. The City reserves the right to reject any and all RFQ's.
