The Alief Independent School District is seeking competitive sealed proposals for HVAC upgrades to Kennedy Elementary School including the replacement of existing air cooled chillers, air handlers, roof top equipment and associated piping, pumps, electrical service, and the building management system. Security shall be made payable to the Alief Independent School District. The security will be retained until the Contract is signed and the required bonds have been furnished. If any contractor refuses to enter into a contract within thirty (30) days, Alief ISD will retain the security as liquidated damages, but not as a penalty. Proposal security will be returned to all bidders upon receipt of the Performance and Payment bonds presented by the awarded contractor. The successful contractor will be required to furnish a Performance Bond for all contracts exceeding $100,000 and a Payment Bond for all contracts exceeding $25,000 equal to one hundred percent (100%) of the total amount of the contract sum, underwritten by such Surety Company acceptable to Alief ISD and licensed to do business in the State of Texas. The Performance Bond and the Labor and Material Payment Bond may be in one or in separate instruments in accordance with local law. The work shall not be started until the bonds and issuing companies have been accepted as satisfactory by Alief ISD. The original bonds will be delivered to Alief ISD with an attached authorized power of attorney within ten (10) days of the receipt of award notice.
