Scope of Work: This project includes two (2) point repairs to a 20" Cast Iron Pipe which will require excavation, as well as the replacement of 11 air release valves inside the existing manholes. This is a unit price contract and the Owner will assign Work Orders to the successful bidder based on the unit price bid. The City of Gulfport Public Works Department frequently has the need for utility, sitework, and road construction work resulting from emergency conditions, maintenance of existing systems, and expansion of existing systems. To accommodate this need, the City is seeking to contract with a company that has sufficient experience, personnel, and equipment to accomplish these types of constructionservices. Questions - All questions regarding this bid should be directed email mkirkland@seymoureng.com . All questions must be submitted in writing; telephonic inquiries will not be considered. Every request for such interpretation should be in writing addressed to mkirkland@seymoureng.com, and to be given consideration must be received at least five (5) days prior to the date fixed for the opening of bids. Each bid must be accompanied by a bid security (which may be prepared in the form a bid bond), duly executed by the bidder as principal and having as surety thereon a surety company approved by Owner, in the amount of Fifty Thousand and No/100 Dollars ($50,000.00) or a certified check in the amount of Fifty Thousand and No/100 Dollars ($50,000.00). Such bid securities will be returned to all except the three (3) lowest bidders within three (3) days after the opening of bids, and the remaining bid bonds will be returned promptly after Owner and the accepted bidder have executed the contract, or if no award has been made within sixty (60) days after the date of the opening of the bids, upon demand of the bidder at any time thereafter, so long as he has not been notified of the acceptance of his bid. Cash will not be accepted as bid security. Simultaneously with his delivery of the executed contract and the first work authorization, Contractor shall furnish a surety bond or bonds as security for faithful performance of this contract, and for the payment of all persons performing labor on the project under this contract and furnishing materials in connection with this contract, as specified in the General Conditions included herein. The bond will be executed in the amount of Five Hundred Thousand and No/100 Dollars ($500,000.00). The surety on such bond or bonds shall be a duly authorized surety company satisfactory to Owner. Cash bonds will not be accepted. Bidder must agree to commence work on or before a date to be specified in a written "Notice to Proceed" of the Owner and to fully complete the project within 90 consecutive calendar days thereafter.
