Provides funding for railroad crossing improvements throughout Garland to improve comfort and rideability. This funding will reimburse KCS and/or DGNO Railroads for their cost to replace railroad tracks that cross city streets and also provide for replacement of street pavement adjacent to these railroad crossings. The funding request for 2024 considers replacement of the N. First Street crossing (south of Walnut Street) and replacement of approaches at the S. Fifth Street Crossing (south of Main Street). Beginning in 2025, an additional $2.5 million is requested annually for five years to replace 25 railroad crossings or pavement approaches. This project is included in the city's fy 2024 Capital Improvement Program.
