Site work and new construction of a medical facility in El Paso, Texas. Working plans call for the construction of a 90,000-square-foot, one-story above grade medical facility; and for site work for a medical facility.
The owner has selected a Construction Manager. Texas Tech University System and the Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center El Paso (TTUHSC El Paso) have proposed the design and construction of a Comprehensive Cancer Center. The Project, as currently being programmed, will construct an approximate 90,000 gross square foot (GSF) Comprehensive Cancer Center. TTUHSC El Paso expects the facility to be a multistory, multidisciplinary building aligned with the Campus Master Plan and consistent with the campus'spanish Renaissance architecture. The primary goal of this facility is to provide cancer screening and to improve cancer treatments and outcomes. The Comprehensive Cancer Center will deliver multidisciplinary cancer care with medical oncology, radiation oncology, and surgery consults. The long-term goal of the Comprehensive Cancer Center is to achieve the acclaimed National Cancer Institute (NCI) designation. This designation involves a comprehensive assessment to ensure it conforms to National Institutes of Health (NIH) standards, including conflict of interest protections. 1) A 12,000 GSF imaging Center equipped with specialized equipment (such as Positron Emission Tomography (PET), Computed Tomography (CT), mammogram, Radiology, Fluoroscopy, Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI), Ultrasound equipment, Computed Tomography (CT) Simulator, Bone Density Equipment, and patient dressing rooms). 2) The remaining 8,000 GSF will house common areas, clinical support, and non-assignable square footage. Including building support rooms (IT, mechanical, electrical, etc.) and other support areas (restrooms, break areas, student study areas, etc.) The Oncology Center will be an approximately 70,000GSF multistory building adjacent to and connected to the imaging center with the following features: Project Budget: $95,000,000.00 Approx. Construction Budget: $72,000,000.00 to $79,000,000.00 The Oncology Center will be an approximately 70,000GSF multistory building adjacent to and connected to the imaging center with the following features: 1) An 11,500 GSF Medical Oncology Clinic consisting of exam rooms, consultation rooms, and procedure rooms for patients. Also, this clinic will include support areas, waiting rooms, nurse's stations, vital collection, doctor collaboration, resident touchdown areas, etc. 2) An 11,000 GSF Radiation Oncology Clinic containing exam rooms, consultation rooms, and procedure rooms for patients. Also, this clinic will include support areas, waiting rooms, nurse's stations, vital collection, doctor collaboration, resident touchdown areas, etc. 3) An 11,300 GSF Infusion Clinic containing open bays for treatment, shelled open bays for treatment, private rooms, and consultation rooms for patients. Also, this clinic will include support areas, waiting rooms, nurse's stations, vital collection, doctor collaboration, resident touchdown areas, etc. 4) The remaining 36,200 GSF will house common areas, clinical support, and non-assignable square footage--for example, offices for administration, clinical providers, and clinical support staff. Also, resident touchdown spaces and classroom areas are needed. Furthermore, building support rooms (IT, mechanical, electrical, receiving, et) and other support areas (restrooms, break areas, student study areas, etc.) The new Comprehensive Cancer Center will not include emergency room or urgent-care services. The functionality of the clinic will be that of patient care; therefore, it will be considered a business-class facility rather than clinical operations. Furthermore, the clinic will be operated during standard business hours, 8 to 5, Monday through Friday. There may be operational needs to open on Saturdays, but the building design is flexible enough to facilitate this operation without operating the entire building during these times.
