The scope of the project includes a complete interior renovation of a portion of the existing Gibson Health Hub, formerly Lovelace hospital, at 5400 Gibson SE in Albuquerque, to be used as a Medical Respite Center. Medical Respite Care is acute and post-acute care for persons experiencing homelessness who are too ill or frail to recover from a physical illness or injury on the streets but are not ill enough to be in a hospital. It is a short-term in-home care that allows individuals experiencing homelessness the opportunity to recover in a safe environment while accessing medical care and other supportive services. This project will include sleeping units to accommodate fifty persons. The 23,000 square foot project includes a Level 2 alteration to a space formerly used as an Intensive Care suite. The project will occur on second floor with an occupied space above and below. The project has an accessible route to the exterior of the building. The new use contains sleeping rooms, restrooms, exam rooms, support spaces and administrative offices. The scope of the project will include new interior partitions and ceilings, finishes, windows, plumbing fixtures, modification of the existing HVAC systems to accommodate the new use, new energy efficient lighting and power distribution, new and replacement storefront windows within the exterior wall.
