Contractor shall have previous experience with installation of Automatic Door Opener systems. A minimum of two previous jobs of similar scope shall be required. Experience shall be provided to VA upon request. 2.3. Contractor shall visit the site prior to the start of construction to verify existing site conditions and identify potential conflicts. 2.4. VA patient care services will be fully operational throughout the construction duration for any demolition and the installation of new Automatic Door Operators; therefore, it will be necessary for work to be performed outside of normal operating hours. VASNHCS normal operating hours: Monday through Friday, 7:30AM to 4:00PM, excluding Federal holidays. 2.5. The contractor shall coordinate with VA staff to minimize disruptions to normal operations. 2.6. The contractor, their personnel, and their subcontractors shall be subject to the Federal laws, regulations, standards, and VA Directives and Handbooks regarding information and information system security as delineated in this contract. 2.7. Demolition Work Notes a) Contractor shall include in his/her bid all demolition work for the removal of required building materials as necessary for the installation of the new components. b) The Contractor shall salvage any and all door hardware removed as part of the scope of work. VASNHCS shall have first right of refusal to take possession of salvaged hardware; if hardware is not accepted by VASNHCS, contractor shall dispose of hardware as they see fit. c) All demolished items described above shall be completely removed from the site and legally disposed of by the Contractor. d) Protect from damage all items not scheduled to be modified or demolished during this project. Contractor is to repair or replace all finishes that are damaged or removed due to the installation or removal of any materials, fixtures, accessories or construction as it relates to this scope of work. e) Contractor shall remove existing wall finishes as required. Contractor shall be responsible for setting the exact limits of demolition required in order to perform his/her work. All finishes removed shall be patched, repaired, or replaced to match adjacent finishes. 2.8. Any damage from the work of this project shall be repaired to its former condition. Construction dust and debris shall be kept to a minimum, and the site shall be completely cleaned upon completion of work. 2.9. New Work Notes a) Access to above ceiling in the corridors shall be available through suspended acoustical tile ceilings. Access to above ceiling in the Toilet Rooms shall be through the existing hard cap gypsum board ceiling, as required, with COR approval. b) The work comprises the completed construction required by the contract documents and includes all labor necessary to produce such construction, and all materials and equipment incorporated or to be incorporated in such construction. c) Shop drawings, product data and samples are part of the contract documents. The Owner will review them, but only for conformance with the design concept of the work and with the information given in the contract documents. The contractor shall not be relieved of responsibility for any deviation from the requirements of the contract documents by the Owner's review of shop drawings, product data or samples. d) The Contractor shall carefully study and compare the contract documents and shall at once report to the Owner any error, inconsistency or omission he/she may discover. The Contractor shall perform no portion of the work at any time without contract documents, or where required, approved shop drawings, product data or samples for such portion of the work. e) The Contractor shall supervise and direct the work, using his/her best skill and attention. He/she shall be solely responsible for all construction means, methods, techniques, sequences and procedures and for coordinating all portions of the work under the contract. f) Where any item and/or material is indicated in the contract documents and not necessarily detailed in each specific case but is required for a complete and professional installation, such item and/or material shall be provided as if shown and detailed in full. Provide means to furnish and install. g) Contractor is requested to visit the site as part of the pre-bid site visit to compare the drawings and specifications with any work in place and inform himself/herself of all conditions, including the work, if any, being performed. Failure to visit the site will in no way relieve the Contractor from necessity of furnishing any materials or performing any work in accordance with the drawings and specifications that may be required to complete the work without additional cost to the Owner. h) Existing conditions including material sizes, configurations, and locations as shown on the contract documents may not be an exact illustration of existing as-built conditions. The Contractor shall include in his/her bid the cost of furnishing, installing, modifying, existing and/or new materials (minor in nature) required for a complete and professional installation that may be required by minor variations between existing conditions as shown and actual as-built conditions. i) The intent of the drawings and specifications is to include all labor, materials, and services necessary for the completion of all the work shown, prescribed, or reasonably implied but not limited to that explicitly indicated in the contract documents. j) Unless specifically shown or noted on the drawings, no structural member shall be cut, notched, bored, welded, or otherwise modified without written permission of the Owner. k) In the event of a conflict, the specifications take precedence over the drawings.
