The Project consists of all labor and materials for the removal of the existing secondary water connections and installing Owner-supplied meter, meter box, and radio with the rest of the supplies Contractor-supplied. Approximately 1,640 meters will be installed. Also included in the project is excavation, proper disposal of removed materials, imported backfill material, compaction, miscellaneous fittings to connect to existing piping, all associated appurtenances, and surface restoration. A. Project Description i. Project Map and Area - Construction Times - Oct 2023 to Nov 2024 a. Irrigation Season: April 15th - October 15th b. All services are in front or side yards c. Some streets need to be done when water is turned off ii. Base Bid Items: Water Meter Appurtenances Installation a. Double and single services (Bid Items 1-4), property owner valves (Bid Item 5-7) i. Meter flow line to be between 10-18" deep, 6" off drain rock. b. Existing street side lateral material: Copper and poly (Most if not all), size varies (Bid Items 10-13 for additional material) c. Existing property owner lateral material and size: Varies i. Each meter could be different material and size and that should be included in the base bid. There are not additional bid items for variations in pipe material or size on property owners side. d. 1 C.F. of Drain rock is to be a min. of 6" from meter e. Meter setter - Flanged and locking wing ball valve f. Supplied by BID (installed by Contractor): i. 1" Meters 1. Sensus iPerl Meter - Radios/wire installed by BID at a later date ii. 1-1/2" and 2" Meters 1. Honeywell evoQ4 Meter- Radios/wire installed by BID at a later date 2. 24" Meter pit (to be cut to length), ring, and plastic lid with meter inset g. Curb Box with Minneapolis Pattern Valve, may be male or female (Bid Items 5-7) h. Radio will be installed by BID at a later date iii. Additional Work Items - Does not include base bid item materials/labor, just "add on" price materials/labor. a. Different existing lateral material: Galvanized and PVC (rare) (Bid Items 10-13) i. If something must be replaced in the road, BID will do it b. Deep Connection (Bid Items 8-9) i. Deep connection defined as any meter location where distance between existing ground and lateral at meter is >30". ii. Pipe on curb box to be extended, not valve brought up to <30" iii. Poly pipe can be on a sweep to the meter; Contractor does not always need a tall pitsetter. b. Obstructions - (Bid Item 14) i. Includes re-routing lateral around obstruction on surface or in trench and tree root cutting in trench. Measured as each and will be approved by Project Inspector ii. Does not include working around existing utilities, unless it requires major rerouting iii. Contractor needs obstruction approved by the Project Inspector prior to commencing work on obstruction. c. Concrete Removal (Bid Item 15) - Driveway, sidewalk, and parkstrip d. Asphalt Removal (Bid Item 16) - Driveway, sidewalk, and parkstrip iv. Miscellaneous Work Items a. Tree Removal - It is anticipated that no trees will need to be removed Completion of the project shall be substantially completed by November 1, 2024.
