The City`s Water Resource Recovery Facility (WRRF) upgrade will comply with stricter discharge limits required by the Central Coast Water Board (CCWB), increase wastewater treatment capacity to serve the community, and to replace aging infrastructure that has reached the end of their service life. The 2015 WRRF Facilities Plan identified the need for the WRRF upgrade and other infrastructure needs based on priority. One of those priority projects, is the expansion of the biogas production and emissions control upgrades per regulatory requirements. This project will study the increase of bio-gas production using field measurements of the new digester system and develop a plan to upgrade the emission treatment system per regulatory requirements. This project will be coordinate with the California Resiliency Challenge and the Department of Energy`s models to consider alternatives for sustainable power solutions. This project is included in the City of San Luis Obispo's FY 2023-2028 Capital Improvement Plan (CIP).
