All work under this Contract shall be done in conformance with the 2023 Standard Specifications for Highways and Bridges, the Supplemental Specifications contained in this book, the 2017 Construction Standard Details, the Traffic Management Plans and Detail Drawings, MassDOT Work Zone Safety Temporary Traffic Control, the 1990 Standard Drawings for Signs and Supports; the 2015 Overhead Signal Structure and Foundation Standard Drawings, the 2009 Manual on Uniform Traffic Control Devices (MUTCD) with Massachusetts Amendments; the 1968 Standard Drawings for Traffic Signals and Highway Lighting; The American Standard for Nursery Stock; the Plans and these Special Provisions. The work to be performed under this contract consists of pedestrian curb ramp construction, reconstruction, repairs and upgrades at locations indicated in the following special provisions section (Location of Work), Contract Plans, and as required by the Engineer. Work shall include, but not be limited to: construction or reconstruction of cement concrete pedestrian curb ramps, construction or reconstruction of cement concrete and hot mix asphalt sidewalks and driveways, minor drainage alterations as needed, removing and resetting of curb and transition curb as required, and repairing of roadway cuts required to perform work. The work also consists of modifications to existing traffic signals and installation of Rectangular Rapid Flashing Beacons. The Contractor shall prepare an appropriate Pedestrian Management Plan and Traffic Management Plan, for each location, in compliance with current MassDOT and ADA guidelines, subject to approval of the Engineer. All work shall be within the tolerances established in the Construction Standard Details. All work done under this contract shall be performed from the roadway shoulder to the maximum extent practical.
