Saving Project...

Site work and renovation of a civil project in Hampton, South Carolina. Conceptual plans call for the renovation of a water / sewer project; and for site work for a water / sewer project.

The District has applied to use SRF funding for this work. A preliminary engineering report (PER) must be completed to secure the SRF funding at the beginning of 2024. These projects are in the District's capital plan and will get completed with or without SRF funding. Along with the PER, the engineering firm will design, permit, and provide construction administration and oversight for both projects (including SRF requirements if used). Land has already been secured for the pump station and no land acquisitions are needed for the force main replacement. The North Charleston Sewer District is seeking to retain a qualified engineering firm to design and oversee the construction of the Sunnyside Pump Station and Lincolnville Force Main Replacements. The District is a publicly owned utility created in 1972 by act of the SC State Legislature, governed by a Board of Commissioners that provides retail and wholesale wastewater service to over 33,000 customers in the City of North Charleston and nearby communities, with a service area of approximately 60 square miles. The District's existing 0.54 MGD Sunnyside Pump Station was constructed in the 1960's and has reached the end of its useful life. Due to multiple modifications over the years and the size of the existing force main, the station cannot be rehabilitated. The new 2.5 MGD submersible, duplex station will provide capacity for the revitalization in the neck area of Charleston and will align better with the existing 10-inch force main. The District's existing 10-inch Lincolnville force main has reached the end of its useful life and its size results in excessive total dynamic head (TDH) at the pump station, thereby limiting pumping capacity. This project will replace 7,200 LF of the Lincolnville force main through pipe bursting with a new 16- inch (14-inch ID) HDPE wastewater force main. Any request for clarification or interpretation must be submitted in writing and emailed with a subject of "QUESTIONS - SUNNYSIDE PUMP STATION AND LINCOLNVILLE FORCE MAIN REPLACEMENTS" to purchasing@ncsd.sc.gov no later than 2 PM THURSDAY SEPTEMBER 7, 2023
