B. SCOPE OF WORK
The selected contractor shall complete the following work
1) Provide a design for the installation of the private dark fiber network.
a) Fiber shall be underground/buried at all points along the path until entry to the buildings.
b) The City will not pursue MBTA approval to install conduit under the commuter rail tracks at this time. The Washington Ave bridge is most accessible location to traverse the tracks.
c) To the extent possible, the path for this dark fiber shall not directly parallel the path of the existing primary fiber. (Figure 1.)
d) The City shall review and approve the design before installation proceeds.
2) Install a fiber optic with a single mode fiber with a minimum of 24 strands between the two endpoints.
a) Stands shall terminate in the datacenter at each facility.
b) Tracer wire shall be placed with all conduit installed unless armored or traceable cable is used. The respondent will provide the tracer wire and shall install, splice and test (for continuity) the tracer wire. If the tracer wire is broken during installation, the wire should be repaired and tested for continuity after repair.
3) Securing proper permits as right of ways, as required. At a minimum, approvals will include
a) Chelsea DPW Street Opening Permit
