The Consultant's scope of work will consist of a Phase 1 Environmental Site Assessment to identify current or historical potential environmental impacts to the site. The Phase 1 ESA is to be completed by a qualified professional and undertaken in accordance with Canadian Standards Association (CSA) document "Z768-01 (2012) Phase 1 Environmental Site Assessment". The Phase 1 ESA, as per the standard, will include desktop screening and review of historical documentation and records, a site inspection with photographs and interviews where applicable. Meewasin Valley Authority ("Meewasin") invites an environmental consultant and archeologist to submit a proposal for a Phase 1 Environmental Site Assessment (ESA) and Heritage Screening of the project site, Maple Grove (including all of Yorath Island), in the Rural Municipality of Corman Park. Maple Grove is a Meewasin owned rural property located south of Saskatoon along the western banks of the South Saskatchewan River. The site has been used primarily for recreation as early as 1915, with cottagers camping on the site in the early years. Meewasin purchased the property in 1997 which included a mobile trailer park to remain on-site for 25 years at which time Meewasin would turn the site back into natural space. The main site is characterized by significant stands of predominantly native trees and shrubs, with some grassland areas that were opened up in the past for recreational use. A small network of trails weave through the west end of the site. Besides one triangular section of high ground on the northeast end of the site, the majority of the site sits below the 1 in 500 year flood level. The work is to be undertaken immediately upon award of contract and be completed no later than February 29, 2024.
