Veolia is seeking a contractor to perform a turf grass to prairie conversion on approximately 27 acres of turf grass at the South Shore Water Reclamation Facility. The Contractor shall remove the existing turf grass and other vegetation in the proposed growing area prior to planting. The site contains a sloped region and existing plant removal and new planting strategy must accommodate an erosion mitigation plan. Due to the generation and storage of biogas on this site, controlled burns are not feasible for long term maintenance. The planting strategy put in place must accommodate the long-term maintenance plans for the area which include periodic mowing to control weed germination during early growing and then provide rejuvenation and control of woody species long-term.
