MnDOT requests responses for a feasibility study and preliminary design for State Project (SP) 8701-40. SP 8701-40 is the
repair or replacement of Bridge No. 91795 located on Trunk Highway (TH) 23 0.3 miles NE of junction with TH 274 south of
Granite Falls, MN. Bridge No. 91795 is a 672’ long 13’ diameter corrugated steel culvert that was constructed in 1978
approximately 75’ below roadbed. An inspection shortly after the bridge was completed showed localized deflections that
developed during or just after construction. Since then, the structure has continued to deform along with additional signs
of wear including heavy rusting, additional deflections, and seepage. Due to the size and depth of this culvert this project
calls for analyzing different and creative methods of repair/replacement. Project Goal
The goal of this project is to assist the State in developing and evaluating multiple alternatives to repair or replace, or a
combination of both for Bridge No. 91795 under TH 23 and Burlington Northern Santa Fe (BNSF) railway for SP 8701-40. MnDOT anticipates posting answers to all questions received by 2:00PM Central Daylight Time on 09/15/2023.
In order to submit a letter of interest, responders must be pre-qualified at the time this announcement is made available, in
the work type(s) identified above. This project has its own “Official Pre-Qualified Consultant List” that indicates the
responders that are eligible to submit for this specific project, which has been posted separately from this announcement.
Note: If responders are not pre-qualified for all work types needed for a project, they must make arrangements to
subcontract with firms that are pre-qualified for those work types. If applicable, the responder must identify, in the letter of
interest, their subcontractor and which work type the subcontractor will be completing. MnDOT anticipates posting answers to all questions received by 2:00PM Central Daylight Time on 09/15/2023.
