Site work and paving for a civil project in Topeka, Kansas. Completed plans call for site work for a road / highway; for paving for a road / highway; and water / sewer project.
The City of Topeka is soliciting bids to replace a failed 30" stormwater main in a public parking lot. This project consists of approximately 124 square yards of pavement removal, 124 square yards of 4" asphalt pavement with prepared subgrade, 113 linear feet of trench excavation and backfill, 110 linear feet of removal and replacement of 30" Storm Main RCP, and connections to existing structures. The following conditions are applicable to the project referenced herein: 1. Pavement removal areas shall be full-depth saw cut to form a straight and uniform line. 2. All saw cuts shall be full-depth. Saw cuts will not be paid for directly but shall be subsidiary to other bid items. 3. Remove an existing 30" CMP stormwater main and replace 30" RCP, Class III pipe. 4. Reshaping of existing inverts will not be paid for directly but shall be subsidiary to other bid items. 5. Trench backfill shall be Type A compaction. 6. Pavement striping will not be paid for directly but shall be subsidiary to other bid items. 7. Traffic disruption related to this work shall be communicated to the property owner through their maintenance manager, shawn.willm@dillonstores.com 8. The contractor shall maintain construction limits within the existing and/or proposed Right of Way and any easement. (There is a 22' Sanitary and Stormwater easement by plat.) 9. Access to all properties shall be maintained throughout the duration of construction by the contractor. 10. Temporary Traffic Control (TTC) will be coordinated through our Utility Repair and Inspection Unit, using the City's on-call contractor. 11. All construction methods and materials used in the construction of this project shall be in accordance with the City of Topeka's Standard Technical Specifications (STS) and addendums to the STS on file in the office of the City Engineer, City of Topeka, Kansas. 12. Work on this project shall be between the hours of 8:00am and 5:00pm, Monday through Friday unless amended by the Utility Repair and Inspection Unit. 13. The Utility Repair and Inspection Unit will issue a Start Work Order after contract execution by the City. 14. The work will be complete and ready for final acceptance/payment within 14 days of the Start Work Order. Additional days for inclement weather will be granted at the discretion of the Utility Repair and Inspection Unit. 15. The City reserves the right to adjust or grant extension to the fourteen (14) day completion date, depending on the weather, scope of work, or other situation the City deems extenuating. The City and the Contractor mutually recognize that timeliness in completing the stormwater main replacement under the resulting contract is of the essence. The awarded Contractor also recognizes that delays cause additional burdens and issues for customers and residents. Accordingly, the awarded Contractor of this project is subject to liquidated damages. A cost of $50.00 and all fees associated with the cost of TTC will be assessed to the Contractor for each day beyond the completion time specified. 16. Contractor shall submit payment applications to the project inspector for review and approval. All payment applications will be based on the number of units actually completed. 17. The City reserves the right to increase or decrease the estimated quantities of any or all of the Unit Price work listed on the bid form, by any amounts, with the expressed understanding that no adjustment in unit prices will be made. Such increase/decrease will be authorized by a Work Change Directive.
