Saving Project...

Renovation of an educational facility in Concord, North Carolina. Completed plans call for the renovation of a educational facility.

It is the intent that the renovation project at the existing R. Brown McAllister STEM School will utilize the Construction Manager at Risk delivery method pending Board of Education approval. This project is to renovate the current facility to relocate the Mary Frances Wall Pre-K Center into the newly renovated structure. The newly renovated Mary Frances Wall Center is a tuition-based program that will need to support a general population of 300 students from the age ranges of 3,4, and 5-year-olds. The facility will be a daycare program and conform to the standards set forth by the North Carolina Department of Health and Human Services for childcare facilities. Providing a safe, secure, and inviting school is critical to early childhood development. Implementing creative, lay base learning is key in the design of this facility for both indoor and outdoor spaces. Classrooms need to support no more than 18 students. Typical administrative spaces along with support spaces; media, dining, conference (large and small), and collaborative breakout spaces will need to be a part of the programming and design. General vehicular circulation will need to be a part of the civil design from a wholistic site perspective and be sensitive to the new R. Brown McAllister STEM School traffic. he Owner, at its sole discretion, may determine that it wants to short list and interview firms. If so determined, the short-listed firms will be notified by October 10, 2023. Notification will also be sent to firms not short-listed. If applicable, interviews of short-listed firms will be held during the week of October 23rd. A recommendation will be made to the BOE at the November 6th, 2023meeting. After selection of the firm, the scope of work and negotiations will begin immediately. Recommendations for award of a professional services contract to the selected firm will be made at the December 4th Cabarrus County Board of Education meeting.
