The following generally highlights the services the individual or firm may be requested to perform as directed by the Town of Bedford: Bedford is looking for an engineering firm with experience processing requests from communications companies such as Shentel, Verizon, Zitel and others. The successful firm must be to: o Conduct field inspections by going to each pole location and get all of the data on the pole (height of all attachments, wire sizes, pole top, equipment, anchors, ground line circumference and midspan heights) o Conduct Sag analysis (using the fielding data to structurally analyze each pole to be sure the proposed attachment doesn't compromise the pole integrity, including to calculate sag in the midspans.) o Produce an analysis report (provide a report of what "make ready" needs to take place for to be able to attach) o Create dig sheets for 811 locations o Meet with Bedford and the locating company as need to review recommendations. Due to an increasing number of pole attachment requests, the Town of Bedford is looking to secure engineering assistance to evaluate current and future pole attachment requests. It's anticipated that approximately 1,500 attachment requests will be received by the end of 2023. Bedford has limited engineering capacity and will need assistance evaluating and processing these requests in a timely manner.
