Renovation of a water / sewer project in Muscatine, Iowa. Completed plans call for the renovation of a water / sewer project.
Construct Replacement UV Disinfection System Project including all labor, materials, and equipment necessary for demolition; construct reinforced concrete structures; plumbing; heating; installation of owner-provided ultraviolet disinfection equipment; miscellaneous equipment; piping and appurtenances; piping specialties; electrical work including conduit, cables, wiring, motor controls, starters, switches, fixtures, and controls; and miscellaneous associated work, including cleanup. Each proposal shall be made out on a blank form furnished by the municipality and must be accompanied by bid security in a sealed envelope by either (1) a certified or cashier's check drawn on a solvent Iowa chartered bank or a bank chartered under the laws of the United States, or a certified share draft drawn on a credit union in Iowa or chartered under the laws of the United States, in an amount equal to 5% of the bid, or (2) a bid bond executed by a corporation authorized to contract as a surety in the State of Iowa, in the penal sum of 5% of the bid. The work under the contract shall commence within ten (10) days after date set forth in written Notice to Proceed and all work on the ultraviolet disinfection system shall be complete and operational by March 4, 2024; all other work shall be completed by May 31, 2024, subject to any extensions of time which may be granted by the City Council. Interim liquidated damages in the amount of Five Hundred Dollars ($500.00) per consecutive calendar day shall be assessed for each day that work shall remain uncompleted on the ultraviolet disinfection system after March 4, 2024, with due allowance for extensions of the contract period due to conditions beyond the control of the Contractor. Liquidated damages in the amount of Five Hundred Dollars ($500.00) per calendar day shall be assessed for each calendar day that work on the contract remains uncompleted after the end of the contract period, with due allowance for extensions of the contract period due to conditions beyond the control of the Contractor. Separate liquidated damage assessments may be made for each of the two completion dates. The City reserves the right to reject any and all bids, to waive informalities and technicalities and to enter into such contract as it shall deem for the best interest of the City. Begin demolition work in UV Disinfection Building after November 15, 2023. During period from November 15 to March 1st, UV Disinfection System does not need to be operational. Owner will operate gates to bypass flows during construction period. 2. Demolish existing UV Disinfection System and associated other items as shown on plans and described herein. 3. Complete construction of improvements required for operation of new UV Disinfection System prior to interim completion date. 4. Complete building work, grating, and other miscellaneous work that is not necessary for operation of UV Disinfection System. Complete cleanup of site disturbed by construction. This work does not need to be completed by interim completion date.
