The original building was constructed in 1912. It was fieldstone in lieu of a stem wall and used other historical building methods of the time. The footprint of the buildings will remain the same. The is a fully occupied campus and will require work to be phased as the campus will remain open and planned use of school breaks will need to be extensive. The project has many moving parts and MCSD will need to be sure that the selected three to five contractors have significant experience in renovations and historic type building renovations. MCSD has buildings that range from 1912 to current which have vastly different building systems and will require specific means and methods to accomplish. Additionally, contractors need to have significant experience in working on occupied school campuses. This will be a very challenging project. Construction time is one year. 1.2. Background Parks serves a population of 1,200 people just off the I-10 between Williams and Flagstaff. Elevation is 7,079 feet, the general store is over 100 years old and predates Route 66.
