Description

Site work and new construction of a medical facility in San Diego, California. Completed plans call for the construction of a medical facility; and for site work for a medical facility.

The Viterbi Family Vision Research Center will be a new building to provide space for research on various ophthalmologic diseases as well as expand interdisciplinary collaborations across campus and the San Diego Community to accelerate the pace of discovery and innovation for vision research. The project is on the Health Sciences East Neighborhood of the La Jolla Campus, just west of the Shiley Eye Institute within the existing academic-medical complex. The Viterbi Research Center is anticipated to be approximately 100,000 overall gross square feet (OGSF) based upon a preliminary program assessment. The overall project site area is approximately 120,000 square feet. The building structure will be sited on the East half of the site which is approximately 50,000 square feet, and the remaining west half will be restored to a parking lot and open landscaped space. The building will be a combination of wet lab and computational space, along with all supporting spaces including a vivarium, administration area, conference space, clinical trial space, and a café.
