Fort Ave Intersection Improvements The City reserves the right to accept or reject, in whole or in part, any or all bids or take whatever other action may be deemed necessary to be in the best interest of the City. The "Fort Avenue at Winter Island Road, Columbus Square, Columbus Avenue, and Memorial Drive Intersection Improvements Project" in the City of Salem, Massachusetts consists of infrastructure improvements to better define the intersection, promote traffic calming, and accommodate multi-modal activity. This scope of work includes intersection improvements of the existing intersection between Fort Avenue at Winter Island Road, Columbus Square, Columbus Avenue, and Memorial Drive. The proposed improvements involve geometric changes to reconfigure the existing intersection, construction of a shared-use path and raised crosswalks, and associated work. The project will also include roadway pavement milling and resurfacing; limited full depth pavement construction; raised crosswalks; sidewalks; curb ramps; drainage modifications; accommodation for on-road bicycle facilities; signage and pavement markings; and landscaping. The reconstruction of Fort Avenue, Winter Island Road, Columbus Square, Columbus Avenue, and Memorial Drive shall be coordinated with City officials and adjacent property owners to ensure normal activities and operations are maintained with as little inconvenience and disruption as possible.
