As of April 8, 2024, a consultant has been awarded to provide to assist with the financial structuring of the redevelopment of the Walnut Street Apartments (“Walnut/High”) in Brookline. *The closed solicitation has been included below for reference: Walnut Street Apartments/ 22 High Street (“Walnut/High”): the redevelopment of four obsolete buildings comprised of 100 units—a seven story, elevator-equipped building at 22 High Street has 68 units including one-, two-, three-, and four-bedroom units; a second building at 28-42 Walnut Street houses eight four-bedroom townhouse units with private entrances; and, two other two-story, garden style buildings at 4-12 and 16-24 Walnut Street house twenty-four one-bedroom units for elderly/disabled residents. The redevelopment will occur in phases in order to relocate the families onsite. A zoning overlay will be voted on by Brookline Town Meeting in November of 2023, which may allow BHA to rebuild on the Walnut Hight site by-right, rather than go through the special permitting process. The BHA may retain proposals for up to 60 days before award. No bid may be withdrawn within 60 calendar days after the opening of bids. The Brookline Housing Authority reserves the right to waive any informalities in or to reject any or all bids.
