Demolition, site work and asbestos abatement for a residential development in Monessen, Pennsylvania. Completed plans call for the demolition of a residential development; for site work for a residential development; and for asbestos abatement for a residential development.
The Redevelopment Authority of the County of Westmoreland (RACW) will receive Sealed Bids for Asbestos Removal, Demolition and Site Clearance in the Cities of Monessen. For more specific information, please email hchatfie@co.westmoreland.pa.us or C Mclaren@co.westmoreland.pa.us Location- 181 Schoonmaker Ave, 151 Schoonmaker Ave, 404 Chestnut St, 408 Chestnut St, 121 Ave, 38 McKee Ave, 35 Reed Ave, 328 Oneida St, 619 Delaware St SCOPE OF WORK: (a) The Contractor shall furnish all labor, materials, tools and equipment necessary to perform the demolition work indicated herein. (b) The Contractor shall perform the following in connection with this contract: Demolish the structure(s) as shown in Attachment A. Demolish and remove all above-ground masonry including sub-grade masonry walls and footers. Masonry walls shall be demolished in small sections. Structural steel, cast iron and heavy timber framing members shall be removed individually and carefully hauled from site. Fracture basement floors and/or concrete slabs throughout to allow passage of subsurface water through the floor. Remove all excess debris from the site. Remove all rubbish, junk and trash from, in and on the site. All Wood partitions, stairways, furnaces, piping and other equipment, rubbish and debris located in basements or cellars shall be removed from the site before backfilling. In buildings where there are no basements and the ground floor is of wood construction, the flooring joists and/or sleepers shall be removed. In such buildings, where the ground floor is other than wood and has space under the floor, all materials shall be removed. No decomposable organic material or wood, glass, plaster, paper, piping, steel or other metal work or material or any unstable or combustible material shall be used in making backfills. Fills shall be made or completed of clean earth borrow or clean earth fill. Earth mounds existing on the site may be used as a source of borrow. Borrow pits extending below grade will not be permitted. The lot will be covered with at least 4 inches of screened topsoil. The surface should be level, without any significant mounds or depressions, and free of stones or large pieces of masonry exceeding the size of a golf ball. The resulting seeded lot should be easy to maintain using standard residential mowing equipment. Protect existing trees, public sidewalks, signs, utilities and other items that are to remain as required. Any damage(s) shall be restored by the Contractor. Demolish and remove paved surfaces by saw cutting to the nearest existing joint, unless specified. The covers of all sidewalk openings such as coal holes, vaults or stair wells connected with buildings or lots in the Demolition Area shall be removed and the openings filled with approved materials 4" below existing grade and install a smooth paved in-kind material level with the sidewalk. Unless otherwise specified in Attachment A, the Contractor shall effectively seed the backfilled areas, in-filled with soil, with a quick germinating "No-MOW" grass seed and cover with an adequate layer of straw in order to ensure that grass grows over the area. Area shall be left in an easily mow-able condition. Obtain all required permits, licenses and paying of all fees. Disconnect, cap and seal existing water, gas, sanitary sewer, storm sewer, steam, electricity, cable and telephone service in accordance with the municipality's and/or utility provider's requirements. Contractor shall be responsible for the protection of all utility service lines and in compliance with PA Act 172 of 1986, as amended. Fill all wells, cisterns, vaults and similar underground structures. Protect existing adjacent structures and property. Verify all utilities, prior to demolition, have been disconnected. Preserve all operating utility serving other properties and related appurtenances on site. Work hours shall be limited to 7:00 am through 6:00 pm, Monday through Saturday. Work is prohibited on Sundays and legal holidays except in the case of an emergency. All construction and demolition debris shall be disposed of at an approved disposal site in compliance with Act 241 (The Pennsylvania Solid Waste Management Act). The Contractor shall submit to the RACW proof of acceptance of the debris by the operation of an approved disposal facility. The fee for debris disposal at an approved site shall be negotiated by and between the Contractor and the operator of the landfill facility. The RACW will not be responsible for the fee negotiation. RACW prohibits the burning of wood debris, trash, or any combustible material. A final walk through and lot inspection will be conducted by RACW personnel and contractor to ensure satisfactory lot condition.
