As of September 28, 2023, this project has not yet been awarded. The project is expected to be awarded on October 17, 2023. The City of Henderson is soliciting sealed bids for the removal of the existing facade on the exterior of Fire Station #1 (see Exhibit A). This work will include, but not be limited to, safe removal of existing facade, removal of structural supports, grinding the supports flush, sealing the building, and painting. All bidders are required to attend a mandatory pre-bid meeting and must be prequalified as outlined in this bid document. SPECIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS: The work involved under this contract is the removal of the existing facade at Fire Station #1 as indicated in Exhibit A. The contractor shall have 60 days to complete the project once a notice to proceed is issued. If the awarded vendor is unable to fulfill the contract within a reasonable amount of time, the next lowest responsible bidder will be awarded the contract. If an emergency exists, the City retains the right to fill its needs strictly on the basis of availability. The contractor shall be responsible for the following: o Removal of the existing facade as shown on Exhibit A. o Removal of any structural supports behind the existing facade. o Grinding any remaining supports flush to the existing block wall after removing steel structures. o Placing plywood to cover the gap between the roof beams. Cover the plywood in vinyl soffit material. o Placing two coats of Sherman Williams Duration paint (or approved equal) on soffit material (color to be selected by owner). o Creating a finished product that looks professional, is long lasting, and is weather tight. Cleaning of all disturbed areas. o The contractor shall coordinate all work with the Fire Chief and/or his designee. This is an active station, and care/advance planning will be the responsibility of the contractor as to not disrupt the fire station's operations. Any temporary bay closures or blockages must be coordinated with HFD in advance. DISPOSAL: The City of Henderson shall provide a dumpster free of charge upon request by the successful bidder. CAUSE FOR CANCELLATION: If the quality of work is not acceptable, this contract can be cancelled upon ten (10) days written notice to the contractor. If quality of work is not acceptable, the contractor will be given an opportunity to correct it at their cost. If the contractor fails to correct any inferior work after being given ten (10) days written notice, the contract can be cancelled by the City. PAYMENT: The City's payment terms are net 30. The City shall pay upon the completion of the project. BONDS: Each bidder must execute a bid bond in an amount no less than $5,000.00. This bond may be in the form of cash, cashier's or certified check, a bond issued by a surety company authorized to do business in the state of Kentucky and made payable to the City of Henderson, or other form approved by the City. The successful bidder must execute a performance bond and a payment bond each in the amount of $50,000.00, issued from a surety company authorized to do business in the state of Kentucky and made payable to the City of Henderson. An irrevocable letter of credit in the City's favor from a bank registered to do business in the State of Kentucky may be substituted for the payment and performance bonds. Such bond or letter of credit must be delivered to the Finance Director within seven (7) days of notice of approval of this bid by the City Commission. Failure to do so will automatically forfeit the bid bond and the bid will no longer be considered valid. The City may then consider other bids.
