Excavation, hauling of TDA, compaction and supply, installation and compaction of aggregates Involves the dig out of a 180m section of road approximately 8.0m wide, at roughly 1.1m deep. There will also be frost tapers on each end of the excavation. Contractor is to salvage any reusable materials during excavation, within reason. Following excavation backfill will be as follows: geotextile, TDA (tire derived aggregate), geotextile, clay fill, and then 3/4" gravel. If the work is not completed by the completion date, liquidated damages may be charged (at the discretion of council) at a rate of $250 TWO HUNDRED AND FIFTY DOLLARS per calendar day until the work is completed. Lost time due to inclement weather is anticipated and is accounted for in the completion date. The Municipality reserves the right to halt operations within reason if site conditions are deemed to be undesirable. Section of road repair has frost boils, severe rutting annually. Subgrade repair will be at full depth of 1.2m for 100.0m, and at a width of 5.0m for each location. It is anticipated that the good clay granular material on the surface can be salvaged by the RM grader, and that some of the clay fill on the upper +/- 0.4m can be salvaged and reused in back fill providing it is a suitable material (free of organics, silts, soil). Materials shall be compacted using a vibratory steel roller, and placed in lifts no thicker than 0.15m. Effort must be put into compaction. Final grade shall be shaped with a crown in the center of the road, with a crossfall of approximately - 4.0%. RM grader will be able to grade final product once material is compacted.
Municipality will provide barricades and signage for the work site. The municipality may reject offers, waive defects, or accept any offer which they may consider in the best interest of the Municipality.
