Reference Number AB-2023-05654. The Municipal District of Bonnyville No. 87 has six landfill sites that accept Class 2 and Class 3 Waste as well as all household recyclables. These sites are staffed with one landfill attendant during operating hours. Site maintenance is performed by M.D. Waste Services operations staff and contractors. The M.D. also has 31 rural bin site locations which range in size from sites consisting of one (1) six-yard bin for Class 2 household waste to locations which consist of twelve (12) six-yard bins for Class 2 household waste and twenty (20) six-yard bins for various household recyclables. These sites are open 24 hours a day to the public for waste and recycling drop-off and do not have staff members present. M.D. Waste Services operations staff provide the material collection and maintenance for these sites. The M.D. completes all waste and recycling collection with our own M.D. staff and front-load compactor trucks. The M.D. is a member of the Beaver River Regional Waste Management Commission along with the Town of Bonnyville, City of Cold Lake, and the Summer Villages of Pelican Narrows and Bonnyville Beach. All Class 2 Waste from Transfer Stations is hauled by a contracted hauler to the Thorhild Waste Management Landfill in Thorhild County, Alberta.
