Reference Number 0000255985 The TTC is currently working on the design phase for installing Platform Edge Doors (PEDs) at their Bloor-Yonge Station for both Line 1 and Line 2 platforms as part of the Bloor-Yonge Station Capacity Improvements Project. These PEDs will be of the full-height, partially segregated variety, meaning that they will consist of full-height glazed sliding door pairs approximately 2.04 wide with adjacent side glazed fixed panels (with breakaway function) and currently assuming a vertical height of 2.1m to accommodate 1.95m train doors with the addition of a mesh screen above the door headers that extends to the station ceiling to allow for air movement between platform and trainway while blocking debris from reaching the track. There is also a requirement for the PEDs to be supplied with a non-conductive veneer for shock mitigation as part of the grounding scheme to protect all conductive surfaces that a passenger or employee may come into contact with. The veneer must be factory applied cladding and include all required cover pieces for supporting structure supplied by others. It will not be acceptable to use an applied non-conductive coating to the conductive materials, as that method may be susceptible to scratching/vandalism.
