Update:This project is for the implementation of water quality improvement projects within the Southern Rivers watershed. These water quality improvement projects may consist of new stormwater management facilities from the Virginia BMP Clearinghouse, new practices allowed through the Chesapeake Bay Program BMP Expert Panel Reports, and modifications to existing stormwater management facilities to improve pollutant removal efficiency. This project will also fund necessary acquisition of easements or property for the construction of the stormwater management facilities. The project includes associated storm drainage system improvements for the performance of the stormwater management facility. The projects will be implemented to reduce pollutants from existing developed areas especially areas that are not treated by existing stormwater management facilities. This watershed is part of the Albemarle Sound and includes North Landing River, West Neck Creek and Back Bay watersheds. Some projects currently planned include the Brigadoon Wet Pond, Bellamy Woods, and the Salem Village Water Quality Improvement Projects.
