Renovation of a fire / police facility in West Sacramento, California. Completed plans call for the renovation of a fire / police facility.
West Sacramento is a vibrant riverfront community centrally located in Northern California. West Sacramento shares the Sacramento River with neighboring Sacramento, with the deep water ship canal serving the Port of Sacramento. Incorporated in 1987, West Sacramento encompasses approximately 22 square miles, with a population just over 53,000 people. The City is full-service with nine (9) departments and over 400 full-time employees. The City provides the full range of municipal services including police and fire protection, park, street, fleet, and facility maintenance, economic development and housing, community development, capital projects, and parks and recreation. The City also provides water, wastewater, and solid waste services. Fire Station 44 has been in service for over 80 years and many repairs have been made over its existence, however critical items to the building have exceeded their life cycle. The Fire Station 44 Facility Repairs project includes re-roofing, exterior painting, lighting upgrades, and fencing. A mandatory site walk is scheduled for prospective bidders to view the site and gain an understanding of the particulars of the project. An expansion of this scope is outlined below. Re-Roofing: The entire existing roof of the building is to be removed. Any necessary repairs are to be performed to eaves, skylights, and other roof accessories. The sheathing is to be fully replaced and a new composite roof is to be provided and installed. New gutters and downspouts are to be installed to direct water away from the building and walkways. Skylight Replacement: An alternate bid associated with this project is to upgrade two of the existing skylights in the Apparatus Bay (garage) to venting skylights. The new skylights are to be manually operated venting skylights mounted on the existing skylight curbs. Exterior Painting: The building exterior is to be cleaned and prepared for painting. The entire exterior is to be primed and painted with a color determined by the City. Lighting Upgrades: All exterior lighting is to be replaced with LED fixtures. All overhead lighting in the Apparatus Bay (garage) are to be upgraded to LED fixtures. Minor electrical work may be necessary, but not expected. Fencing: The wooden fence line located along the east side of the building is to be removed and disposed of. The metal posts are sound and are to be re-used, with new wooden stringers and boards provided and installed by contractor. The southwest corner of the fencing will need a new post to change the fence line to follow the property line and square off an existing jog in the fence. A small, decommissioned service pedestal located in the southwest corner of the lot is to be removed prior to building the new fence. One pedestrian gate is included in the project, located at the northeast corner of the building. The chain link fence located on the south side of the property and the wood fence to the west are NOT included in this project.
