The approximate quantities of major items of work are as follows: 29 Lead Water Service Replacements, Restoration, and all appurtenant work. Only Bidders who have been prequalified by the Village of Spring Lake within the required days in advance of the bid opening in accordance with the Information for Bidders section will have their bids opened and read. All questions about the meaning or intent of the Bidding Documents are to be directed to the Engineer. Questions received less than five days prior to the date for opening of Bids will not be answered. Only questions answered by formal written Addenda will be binding. Oral and other interpretations or clarifications will be without legal effect. This project will be entirely funded by the Village of Spring Lake; no federal or state grants are involved. All Proposals shall be made in accordance with the Bidding Documents. Accompanying this Proposal is a certified check or bid bond in the amount of five percent (5%) of the total bid, payable to the Village of Spring Lake, which it is agreed will be forfeited to said Village of Spring Lake if the undersigned fails to enter into a contract in conformity with the form of contract incorporated herein and furnish the required bonds and insurance as specified within ten calendar days after notification of award. The undersigned further agrees to complete all work on or before June 15, 2024. If the undersigned does not finish the work within the time specified, the Village of Spring Lake, or its duly-authorized representative, because of the difficulty in estimating damages, is authorized to retain out of the money which may be due or become due, the sum of $750.00 for each calendar day by which the Contractor shall fail to complete the work, said sum to constitute liquidated damages and not a penalty. The right is reserved by the Village of Spring Lake to accept any Proposal, reject any or all Proposals, and to waive informalities in bidding when it is deemed to be in the interest of the Village of Spring Lake.
