Upgrades to existing facilities to activate a Mega Shelter. A Mega-Shelter is a facility that has the capacity to provide Emergency Social Services for approximately 2,000 to 20,000 individuals during an Emergency. TIMELINE: A Request For Proposals from Consultants to prospective suppliers to submit interest for Consultation Services to Develop a Mega-Shelter Plan, for the City of Toronto Office of Emergency Management has been cancelled by the owner. The City of Toronto is focused on developing plans and templates to activate a Mega-Shelter in an existing facility. At this point in time, the City is not contemplating using large, open spaces to activate a Mega-Shelter (e.g., fairgrounds, parks). The awarded proponent will provide Business Continuity Planning and Consulting Services, Emergency housing services, and Strategic planning consultation services. The RFP is being reviewed, timeframe for when the call will be reissued is not finalized.
