The Chatham Township Historical Society seeks experienced Historic Restoration General Contractors who specialize in or have subcontractors who specialize in selective demolition, masonry restoration, restoration of wood siding and trim, metal flashings, rough and finish carpentry restoration, and surface preparation and painting of historic buildings. Exterior Restoration of the Mt. Vernon School 24 Southern Boulevard Chatham Township, Morris County, New Jersey 07928 The project generally consists of the following: 1. Rebuilding front entrance steps and stoop. 2. Rebuilding wooden side entrance steps to the second floor. 3. Improve merits for barrier-free access. 4. Repairing underground drainage system. 5. Repairing through traditional conservation measures damaged brick and repointing brick masonry. 6. Improving flashings and drainage at the roofs. 7. Finish carpentry repairs and surface preparation and painting. 8. Restoration of existing wood windows. 9. Restoration of existing wood doors. 10. Exterior lighting. All respondents will be notified in writing of the decision as to qualifications. Only those determined to be prequalified Historic Restoration General Contractors for this project will be invited to submit bids for the work. This property is listed on the New Jersey and National Registers of Historic Places. All prospective bidders must demonstrate experience in the successful completion of projects of a similar scope and nature that followed the Secretary of the Interiors Standards for the Treatment of Historic Properties (Revised 1995) performed to the satisfaction of the Owner.
