The aluminum must be produced to the following properties: A. Alloy – Reprocessed: 3003-H12; 3105-H12 or 8112-H111 Virgin: 3003-H12 B. Thickness .032” + .003 - .000 (Gauge 20) C. Width (Standard Size) (VEHICLE) 12-1/8 D. Ultimate Strength 17,000 to 23,000 psi E. Minimum Yield Strength 12,000 psi F. longation on 2” Standard Specimen 15% to 20% nominal with 12% minimum G. Quality To withstand embossing with all steel dies at 3/32” height without breaking, cutting or appreciable plate warping. H. Front Surface Finish and Backside Prep Treated with a light, tightly adherent, non-hexavalent chromium or nonchromium conversion coating. Coating to be free of any powdery residue or oil or other foreign material that may affect adhesion of reflective sheeting. Treated with a light, tightly adherent, amorphous chromate conversion coating, Alodine 1200 or equal, applied in conformance with specifications outlined in ASTM specification B-449-67, Class 2, or as revised, and free of any powdery residue or oil or other foreign material, which may affect adhesion of reflective sheeting. Whereas the above may no longer be available Bonderite M-CR 1430C pretreatment is preferred with a back surface pretreatment or polyester wash coat. Bonerite 1455SF will not be accepted. I. Backside Surface Finish Treated with a polyester wash coat to protect the backside surface as well as provide protection to front side conversion coated surface. Finish shall be free of any powdery residue or oil or other foreign material, which may affect adhesion of reflective sheeting.
